We leave are wonderful cottage in Cotignac and head to a hotel in Antibes. I thought it would be nice to spend a few nights with all the hotel comforts, like fluffy white towels, crispy hotel sheets, and people who make your bed, but it turns out I miss my cottage, its view, my walk to get a flat white, even my washing machine. They had a comedy festival on in Juan les Pins and these little sand statues popped up everywhere overnight so someone sure was busy. I also found a great little bookshop so could buy a new book.

We are in the middle of a European heatwave so I would not like to see what the temperatures are in July and Austin but currently its early 30’s everyday and consistently 7 degrees above the average. This makes the afternoons very lazy, where you either go to the beach, swim by a pool or stay inside if you have air conditioning. Roaming around looking at “stuff” quickly becomes unpleasant not matter how pretty or old or interesting “stuff” is. The square in the first pic was really pretty and the petunias in the baskets huge but even stopping for a drink under the trees the sweat still dripped. It’s funny all the little things that disappear. Firstly its makeup as any sort of foundation just slides of in around 10 minutes, next is sleeves, at home I never wear a sleeveless dress. I have multiple sundresses but hate my arms so I always wear them with a tshirt under, not anymore. It’s just too hot.

It’s 10 days since I started this blog. We have picked up the whanaU. Been and gone from Montauroux. Flown to Spain. Visited Madrid and are now in Valencia.
It’s was lovely to have the whanau here. Exhausted after the 35 hours of travel we spent lazy days in a cottage in Montauroux whilst they assimilated to the hours and the climate. Forever grateful for the pool, the river or the ocean.

We visited Grasse, we visited Canne we visited St Tropez
